Tech Tip

02/06/08

One Source Toxicology is currently evaluating our Supplies Order form for additional functionality. As a part of the evaluation we are presenting a Tech Tip you can implement immediately to make your work in web forms easier. This functionality is called Autocomplete.

Autocomplete is a function of Internet Explorer 5 and higher which will store and suggest data for fields when performing data entry on web forms. The default setting is turned ON for internet addresses (urls) and Passwords. However the default setting for forms is OFF. In order to turn on autocomplete for forms, start Internet Explorer, then click >> Tools » Internet options » Content » AutoComplete. Make sure the checkbox next to forms is checked. Then click ok.
From this point forward, Internet Explorer will start remembering what you type in form fields and suggesting them back to you when you fill in the form in the future. This feature is useful for a couple of reasons. 1. The data is specific to your uses and needs. 2. The suggestion data is stored locally on your machine and therefore does not impact bandwidth or response time.
